About Acer’s Attempted Aliyun Affair

  1. Right or wrong, this isn’t the first time Google has allegedly strong-armed a hardware vendor out of using a competitor.
  2. Alibaba designing a Java based OS to benefit from an existing Android ecosystem seems awfully similar to Google designing Dalvik to benefit from an existing Java ecosystem.
  3. What if instead of Acer, the hardware vendor in question was Samsung? Would Google still strong-arm? Could they?
  4. Speaking of Samsung, will Google’s crackdown of an apparent copy stifle innovation in the same way that Apple’s court-backed crackdown supposedly will?
